Brief History of previous attempts at dieting/slimming
:

I have tried many different diets and ways of losing weight, everything from counting calories, points, carbs, and fatty foods, but to no avail. To be totally honest I haven't managed to stick to any diet in the past. I always found myself falling off the wagon. I'm not really interested in trying the diets that cut out all of the vital nutrient's, its not for me. I just want to lost weight without having to compromise on all of life's little luxuries. I need those little treats now and again.

When I was about 18, I was a nice slim size 8 with no worries in the world. I didn't even really have to watch what I ate or drank. It was great.  In my mid 20's I started a job where I had to commute regularly and work long hours. I found that I was starting to eat more convenience foods rather than healthy ones and didn't find much time to exercise. By my late 20's I had tried all sorts of 'Fad' diets. These helped for the short time I used them but found that they were not sustainable and I quite quickly fell off before seeing any real results.

How being overweight has affected you…….

I used to be able to get away with wearing anything. I would go into a changing room with a few size 8 and the odd 10 which would be fine. Over time however I crept up dress size's and it was not long before I was taking into changing rooms 12's and 14's,  with the 14's being tight and the 12's not even coming off the hanger. I was unhappy with not being able to buy the clothes that I really liked and that I used to be able to wear. I would go into a shop intending on buying a particular outfit but because it would simply not look right or more importantly feel right in the bigger sizes I would end up having to compromise with something else. Always feeling second best and settling for the usual black outfit.

Now how things have changed. After using MDM,  I can buy the clothes that show off my sexy new figure. I used to spend hours shopping and ending up only getting the one outfit that looked ok. Now however it's great as the choices available to me are the outfits that really make the difference. I still shop for hours as I'm spoilt for choice. I'm back down to the sizes that really matter to me and I have that new wardrobe I've always dreamed of. When I look back I probably bought clothes that covered up my lumps and bumps. Those outfits now look really frumpy…… I'm not going back there again.

Motivation to get slim….

  • Positive self-image of myself at my best weight when I was younger… I kept the photo on the fridge.
  • The ability to buy the clothes that I want to wear…
  • More confidence
  • Really just wanting to feel good about myself again.

How MyDietMate helped me…

The advice and support from other members on the message boards and chat rooms is a great help and source of information. There really are other people just like me out there finding the same problems that I found. It is great to hear their story and find out what has worked for them.  I found the diaries and overview great. They showed me everything that I needed to know. At last I could start to manage my eating habits correctly. Mydietmate showed me that exercising was helping me balance my total calories for each day.

Mydietmate quickly showed me to begin with at least, I was eating far more than my body needed. The diaries really help me stay focused and on track. If I do fall over at any point each week Mydietmate shows me that I can balance this out by going shopping for an afternoon at the weekend to burn off all those extra calories. I found it so easy to pull all my information together, no more looking in books or having pieces of paper all over the house. All my information was now kept in one place. My progress chart is also a fantastic motivator. This chart helps me see how my weeks are pushing me nearer to my target goal!

My diet mate really works as it helps me to set achievable targets.  I can see what works for me and what doesn't. I set myself a target of 10 ½ stone, that was my first milestone and it was so incredible when I reached it. It made it easier to stay on track for my next target of 10 stone. My overall aim was always to reach 9 stone 2lbs but that always seemed so impossible to me. I'm currently a fantastic 9 stone 6 lbs and well on track to reach my target goal.

If it can work for me it will work for anyone!
